FAQ about studies and campus

Many questions arise at the start of a degree program - about the university, the university environment, and about studying as such. You will find an overview with answers to frequently asked questions about the start of the semester below.

Where can I get help with starting my studies?

There is, for example, the online course Studyguide on our eCampus, which you can use even before you start your studies to prepare yourself ideally for your studies.

In addition, the OWL University of Applied Sciences and Arts is again offering many different courses on study methodology in the new semester. Click here for an overview of the current study methodology course offerings.

Where can I find information about courses, examination offices and additional learning opportunities?

How do I network at the university?

If you are new to the OWL University of Applied Sciences and Arts, you will naturally want to get to know other students and network. You can do this by getting involved in projects or committees, for example. You can find all information on this on our special page "Student Involvement".

Where is the OWL University of Applied Sciences and Arts currently in the process of construction?

Extensive construction work is currently underway, especially on the campus in Lemgo. You can find out what is being built or renovated at which location and how the construction work is progressing on our special webpage Construction and Campus Development.

Where can I get food and drinks at student-friendly prices?

At all three locations of the OWL University of Applied Sciences and Arts there is a cafeteria where you can get food, drinks and snacks. You can find more information on our special webpage Student Cafeterias and Catering Services.

International Office

  • We advise and support students of the OWL University of Applied Sciences and Arts who are interested in an exchange semester, an internship or a language course abroad.
  • International students are supported by the International Office in their transition to living and learning to study in Germany.
  • We offer counselling appointments, language support and international cultural events throughout the year.
  • Our mission is to help students experience a semester abroad and to support foreign students in making OWL and the OWL University of Applied Sciences and Arts their second home.

To help you get started quickly and easily with your studies, we have compiled your basic (IT) equipment. With this equipment you are technically ready to start your successful studies at the OWL University of Applied Sciences and Arts. From user access (IDM) to university dial-in to e-mail, you will find all instructions - many of them as videos.

Information on the Corona virus

Even in Corona times we are always available for you - just online. We would like to inform everyone who studies and works at the OWL University of Applied Sciences and Arts about the current status of the corona virus on this webpage. The Executive Board has set up a Corona Action Team to coordinate the prevention measures at the OWL University of Applied Sciences and Arts and is in continuous communication with the health authorities. You will be informed about current decisions of the team here:
