Life Science Technologies

With the Master's program in “Life Science Technologies,” the department is combining the expertise of its Bachelor's programs in industrial biotechnology, food technology, pharmaceutical technology and cosmetics and detergent technology to create one joint, overarching degree.

The degree program is a consecutive offer for graduates of Bachelor's programs in the Life Sciences Technology department at OWL University of Applied Sciences and Arts, and for external students, for instance from the areas of biotechnology, food technology, chemical engineering/process engineering, industrial engineering and other related programs. Special admission restrictions apply to some degree programs.

By combining the expertise gained in different scientific and engineering disciplines, the department is able to offer a high-level degree program to meet the needs of students and the market. The program unites research and teaching in the technology area, in particular, both on specific products and across a variety of products. The purpose of this program is to enable students to analyze product-specific and process engineering, analytic, economic, politic and administrative contexts in an interdisciplinary way across different departments, and to develop integrative product solutions. This Master's program is the only one of its kind in North Rhine Westphalia.


Graduates will learn to solve problems in an interdisciplinary and integrative fashion. This will allow them to apply for management careers in all areas of the life sciences. Students may enter a variety of leadership positions in the food, cosmetics, pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors.

Entry requirements

Bachelor's or other graduate degree with an overall grade of 2.5 or better.
