University Information Days

Review

HIT 2026 impressed with a new concept

On February 11 and 12, 2026, (TH) OWL University of Applied Sciences and Arts (TH OWL) once again invited visitors to its University Information Days (HIT) and Study Information Days. Students were treated to an exciting insight into the wide range of courses on offer and the university's facilities.

For the first time, the University Information Days were held according to a new concept. In addition to the tried-and-tested lectures by the departments, there were hands-on activities in laboratories and workshops. This meant that participants could not only hear about what studying at TH OWL is like – they could experience it first-hand.

The students chose two content clusters in advance that they were particularly interested in. Each program slot lasted 75 minutes.

Individual prospective students who did not come with a school class were also welcome to attend.

Computer Science and Automation

Develop. Play. Program. – Experience technology that builds the future.
Experience technology in a way that is truly enjoyable:

  • Play on real arcade machines – and see how they are repaired, dismantled, and brought back to life.
  • Test VR glasses and AR applications and learn how to build and expand digital worlds.
  • Control your first robot, solder simple circuits, or try out modern sensor systems.
  • Discover sustainable mobility concepts – such as the MONOCAB, our autonomous monorail train.
  • Learn how electrical engineering makes modern energy and drive systems smarter, more efficient, and more sustainable – from power electronics to intelligent control systems.

Immerse yourself in the future of the digital world:
Hands-on AI, first steps in hacking, gaming technologies, and data science.
• How computer science, business informatics, and digital management solutions make companies and cities smarter.

  • You develop, program, play, experiment.
  • We show you where your strengths lie – and which degree program suits you best.

The university information days: Your chance to try out technology instead of just hearing about it.

Agriculture, Food and Health

Do you want the world to be healthier, more sustainable, and fairer? Then bring research and responsibility together.
Here, you will work on innovations that combine nutrition, the environment, and health. You will understand biological processes, use technology sensibly, and shape a balanced future.
With your knowledge, more than just yields will grow—quality of life will grow too.

Media and Culture

Something to do with media – creativity uncut and unfiltered

What's behind the Media Production degree program? Our students give you honest and practical insights into their studies. In compact 10-minute sessions, they use their own projects to show you what they are currently working on – from the initial idea to the finished result.

In small groups, you will move between the individual stations and learn about the different areas of focus in media production: from communication design to film and animation. This will give you a quick overview of the many perspectives and a realistic picture of how versatile the program is.

Finally, we invite you to an open, interactive discussion with Q&A. Ask the questions that really matter to you – about course content, working methods, creativity, everyday life as a student, and possible future paths. Honest, direct, and unfiltered.

Production and Engineering

Want to know how ideas become reality? Then set technology in motion.
Here you will learn how to make machines smarter, processes more efficient, and products more sustainable.
You will combine engineering with innovation and develop solutions that drive progress.
What you develop will move the world tomorrow.

You can experience exactly how this works in an interactive tour of stations covering additive manufacturing (3D printing), laser technology, assembly assistance systems, robotics, materials testing (extra delicious with chocolate), and plastics technology, and learn even more about our degree programs in digitalization engineering, wood technology, innovative production systems, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, and industrial engineering.

Special highlight: robot fishing.

Economics

The psychology of creativity in the workplace and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? – Financial math with real benefits
In this workshop, we will explore the concept of creativity from the perspective of business psychology. You will learn whether and how creativity can be measured, how teamwork affects creativity, and what you can do to achieve creative results. You will also learn about the topics and questions that business psychologists deal with. We will play the interactive game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? with AI, beats, and real “aha” moments. Learn how to make decisions like an investor and compete against the AI.

Impressions

That was the HIT 2026

On February 11 and 12, 2026, the (TH) OWL University of Applied Sciences and Arts (TH OWL) in Lemgo opened its doors to numerous pupils and prospective students from all over East Westphalia-Lippe. At the University Information Days (HIT), participants were given an insight into the wide range of courses on offer at the university and the apprenticeships available at the Detmold, Lemgo and Höxter sites.

How teachers and pupils rate their visit

Feedback from our guests

“The students were really impressed and found the wide range of activities on offer really interesting and inviting. The selection of topics from different time periods could have been more balanced.”
(Teacher, EKG)

"Thank you very much for the informative event. Our students gained a lot of insight. We were already familiar with the format from previous years. You are very well prepared and motivated. We would be happy to participate again next year.
(Teacher, Bergkloster Vocational College, Bestwig)

“It was a really successful and very well-planned event. In particular, the low organizational effort for me as a teacher was excellent; you just have to say “yes” and you get an all-inclusive package. I would like to see more events like this. I'm happy to make a note of the event for the coming school year and am already looking forward to receiving an invitation from you. Thank you for this great offer.”
(Teacher, Carl-Severing-Berufskolleg, Bielefeld)

Both the students and the accompanying teachers really enjoyed the program. The students reported that they particularly liked being able to choose which lectures to attend. At one point, they were a little disappointed that a lecture was already full when they arrived. We would like to participate in the university information days again next school year."
(Teacher, Hermann-Vöchting-Gymnasium Blomberg)
