Vocational college teaching program

Industrial/technical instructor

Are you looking for a profession that brings theory and practice together? A job where you can transmit your professional expertise to others, and enjoy outstanding future prospects?

As part of the Edu-Tech Net OWL joint project, you can be trained as a vocational college industrial/technical instructor at the OWL University of Applied Sciences.

As a vocational college instructor, you will get students excited about your subject, support young people in an important phase of their lives and train students in a wide range of different areas and vocational fields. You will plan your instruction in teams according to the specifications of your educational plans, and discuss with and advise one another. Vocational college instructors also maintain close ties with training companies, and make an important contribution to economic development in the region. Bachelor’s program graduates with a teaching certificate option have very good career prospects in both the short and long term. In coming years, vocational colleges will be seeing a large number of open positions. At the same time, industrial companies will see growing demand for continued training opportunities.

Engineering degree + Teaching module = double qualification

During the 4th and 5th semesters of their Bachelor’s degree program, students at the OWL University of Applied Sciences may choose to complete pedagogical modules in their mandatory courses. By doing so, they can gain additional qualifications that allow them to seamlessly transition into a Master of Education program at the University of Paderborn. Furthermore, the educational expertise they gain through the module also qualifies them to apply for jobs in the industrial training field. Since students also complete their Bachelor's degree programs with either a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) or Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree, they may also enter Engineering Master's programs as well.

The OWL University of Applied Sciences offers a Bachelor’s degree with a teaching certificate option at its Lemgo location, in cooperation with the University of Paderborn and through the Edu-Tech Net OWL project:

Nutritional science and home economics
Food technology

Electrical engineering
Mechanical engineering and Production Technology

Students electrical engineering and mechanical engineering complete their entire programs at the OWL University of Applied Sciences, finishing with a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering. Bachelor's programs in Food technology and Nutrition and home economics are offered in cooperation with the University of Paderborn, and conclude with a Bachelor of Education. Students complete their coursework at the University of Paderborn during their final semester.
