#breakfasttogether: World record at TH OWL

Together at one table

The structural reform of the Ostwestfalen-Lippe University of Applied Sciences, successfully implemented on January 1, 2026, is a powerful collaborative effort—and it was precisely this spirit of cooperation that was recently celebrated in a special way. Over a casual breakfast, the Executive Board warmly thanked all those involved in teaching, research, and administration for their commitment and dedication in implementing the structural reform, which has reduced the number of departments from ten to seven.

On April 29, 2026, the Innovation Campus Lemgo was transformed into an extraordinary gathering place: Hundreds of university members gathered on the campus lawn behind the InnovationSPIN to enjoy breakfast together under the open sky—and to set a world record in the process.

With the officially certified longest East Westphalia-Lippe breakfast table in the world, TH OWL sent a clear message of solidarity, openness, and a sense of community in action.

Students, faculty, researchers, and staff from technical, administrative, and academic departments came together under the motto “Together at One Table” to engage in conversation—across departments and job categories.

The day thus became far more than just a record-breaking endeavor: it became a visible expression of what defines TH OWL—a vibrant university that actively shapes its community and envisions the future together.

We did it!

World record officially confirmed

RID REKORD-INSTITUT für DEUTSCHLAND GmbH officially recognized the record attempt on May 5, 2026: TH OWL successfully set up the world’s longest East Westphalia-Lippe breakfast table!

The event not only created an extraordinary table on the Innovation Campus in Lemgo, but also a powerful symbol of community at the university.

The record thus stands for far more than just an impressive length—it stands for community, exchange, and shaping the future together.

A Record-Breaking Breakfast

The longest breakfast table in East Westphalia-Lippe

What happens when an entire university gathers for breakfast? In the case of TH OWL, it results in a record-breaking endeavor—and, above all, an unforgettable moment for the entire university community. By joining forces, we achieved something special: the “longest East Westphalia-Lippe breakfast table.” Together, we demonstrated just how large and strong our university community is. For the record attempt, we collaborated with RID REKORD-INSTITUT für DEUTSCHLAND GmbH.

With the idea of a continuous breakfast table stretching across the campus, a simple invitation turned into a powerful community experience. People from all areas of the university struck up conversations, got to know one another anew, and experienced their university in a completely different way.

The World Record in Numbers

The table stretched over 258 meters across the campus in Lemgo, comprising a total of 115 tables. Around 450 people from all campuses and learning locations of TH OWL came together to spend a relaxed morning with one another—without any formal program items. More than 1,000 assorted rolls—including straw rolls—along with gray or grain bread and Lippischer Pickert with sugar beet syrup, along with toppings and spreads, created a breakfast atmosphere and variety on the plates people brought themselves.

This unique experience was very well received by the participants and will remain in their memories.
