Umfang

2 SWS Vorlesung,
2 SWS Praktikum

Learning Objectives

The course computer networks should provide insight into the basic principles, the structure and the technique used for common wired communication networks.  The students are familiar with the structure and functions of the relevant reference models (TCP/IP, ISO/OSI). They have a qualified overview of the existing network concepts and protocols in the local area network (LAN). In particular, they have practical experience in building simple networks, including the configuration of active network components (switches, routers) that they have acquired in the implementation of labs. Didacticly the course is oriented on the OSI reference model, starting with the physical layer. Ethernet (TCP/IP) is used as an example implementation.
