Office


Michel Melenhorst studied architecture at the TU Delft in the  Netherland where he graduated with a design for a TV studio in Milan, Italy. After his graduation he worked through the  nineties as a project‐architect for the offices of Wiel Arets and  Rem Koolhaas/OMA

From 2000 on Michel started with his own office ‘M’, later to become FM. In 2005 FM merged with DAAD architects to become independent again in September 2012.

  • Major extension to the Court of justice, Almelo, in process 2008/2013
  • Mentor for “Nederland wordt anders” i.e. ‘the Netherlands will change’ a large scale research program on how the Netherlands can, or will change under the influence of contemporary forces in society. The topic of shrinking communities in the North East of the province of Groningen was subject of research. 2012
  • Member editorial board of ´Nederland wordt anders´, a webbased community advising the Dutch Government ( Bureau Rijksbouwmeester) on new practices in Spatial Design 2012
  • Competition ‘a sustainable new farm , that fits well in to the landscape’ issued by the Dutch ministry of economy, agriculture and innovation: first prize 2011
