Lemgo Digital Fraunhofer IoT-Reallabor für die digitale Transformation von kleinen und mittleren Städten

Project Duration: 5.4.2018 to 4.4.2021 (Running)
Area of Research:
Project Manager: Prof. Dr. Jürgen Jasperneite

We live in a world that is becoming increasingly networked. More and more aspects of our everyday life are being digitalized. This also affects life in cities. This leads us to the question: How could these technological advances be used to make the interaction between people and cities more attractive. Smart City concepts are being addressed worldwide. The focus is usually placed on challenges of large cities against the background of urbanization. However, small and medium-sized cities can also benefit from digital, intelligent solutions. "Lemgo Digital" project has initiated an innovative approach to develop solutions for creating a medium-sized digital city and serving as a Germany-wide reference for many similarly shaped cities and regions. The project is designed as an open innovation and test platform in which the digital transformation of communities can be tested and piloted. The primary fields of action include mobility, attractive city centers and the environment. Through participative processes and the development of a city-wide IoT infrastructure, usable and scalable solutions are implemented as innovative products and data-based services in cooperation with companies, municipalities, research institutions and citizens.
