The world of automation increasingly requires intelligent sensor-solutions to allow the transfer of additional data. The goal of IO-Link is the definition of a non-vendor-specific protocol, which can transfer additional data, like parameter and service data on the last meter. IO-Link respects the present standard IO-methods and is compatible and also coexisting with the present standard. The Goal of this thesis is the development and testing of an IO-Link master stack. Therefore a starter-kit with the corresponding hardware-interface is used. The development of the stack is done in the programming language C, the stack is written very abstract to allow simple porting to other hardware platforms. Afterwards an analysis of the stack regarding interoperability and performance is done.
