Abstract
Current processes for designing manual assembly workstations do not consider the need for employee-appropriate, product-specific and operating resources-specific factors. A systematic design tool would help to minimize cycle times, increase productivity and improve ergonomic criteria. Therefore, a literature research concerning workplace design for manual assembly was conducted. Additionally, a guided Interview and a questionnaire were developed and approached on the trade show “Motek” with 14 participants.The study shows evidence for the assumption that there is no systematic approach todesigning manual assembly workstations.
