Information Technology

As a student, you can enroll in the full-time or part-time version of the degree program.

1. Fachhochschulreife/Allgemeine Hochschulreife [i.e. an entrance qualification for studies at universities of applied sciences or at universities] or an equivalent qualification.
2. Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Mechatronics or another closely related field of study.
3. Evidence of a final German examination grade of 2.5 or better.
4. Evidence of a very good command of the English language, proven by

• at least 7 years of language classes at an institution of general education. As a general rule, performances should at least have been assessed as 'befriedigend' (3.0) in the last four half-year periods of classes. This is only applicable to European candidates.
• a Bachelor’s degree completed in Australia, Great Britain, Ireland, Canada, New Zealand or the USA
• a Bachelor’s degree in an accredited degree program taught in English at a German institution of higher education,
• TOEFL test with a score of 550 (paper-based) or 79 (internet-based, iBT), Cambridge ESOL Certificate (CPE, CAE with minimum grade B, FCE with minimum grade A), IELTS with minimum grade 6.5 or
• a professional stay of at least one year in an English-speaking country (Australia, Great Britain, Ireland, Canada, New Zealand, USA)

An application needs to include the following documents:

• the bachelor's degree certificate,
• a documentation of the applicant’s English language proficiency,
• an English motivation letter including information about the specific talents and interests that explain the applicant's motivation to apply for this particular degree program.

Depending on the academic year, the lecture period of the summer semester begins at the end of March or the beginning of April.

Research and development projects, including through the it's OWL cluster, integrate current knowledge from professional practice directly into our coursework.

Our department carries out a wide range of application-oriented and fundamental research projects. We participate in national and international research programs.

As a student, you can participate in a variety of ways: we integrate research content into coursework, integrate you as a student into the active work of research groups early on, and deal with some research content in the framework of theses.
